Recommended Books '03-04

Realistic Fiction:

Fantasy / Fairy Tale:
Michael Giacopelli (4B) recommends: The Lord of the Rings triology by J.R.R. Tolkien.
        "If you've seen the movies, there's more to find out in the book and you'll be amazed how different it is. It's thrilling and exciting."  (fantasy/adventure story)

Megan Warren (4B) recommends: A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle.  
       Another adventure in fantasy.  
      "L'Engle gives lots of details about her characters and all her worlds."

Humorous stories
Matthew Kluber (5R) recommends: Slippery Slope by Lemony Snicket
            "It has lots of adventure, and the ending leaves you with a question."

Historical Narrative:
Emma Becker (4P) recommends Dear Mrs. Roosevelt by Robert Cohen.  "
    Emma says, "It's really great."  She recommends it for 4th or 5th graders and says it's about how Eleanor Roosevelt asked children to write her letters during The Great Depression in the 1930's.
