Principal’s Message
As Spring comes along each year, it seems that students get excited and energized (even with a little snow on the ground in March). At Grace McWayne we hope to channel that enthusiasm with a PBIS Behavior Boost! Students will have a chance to show adults that they can be respectful, responsible and really safe in all different parts of the school. Each day next week we will share expectations for behavior in each of the main areas around the school: Arrival and Dismissal, Hallways, Bathroom, Lunchroom and Playground, and Bus. Students can earn CLAW coupons throughout their day which will become raffle tickets to win some fabulous prizes provided to us by the Chicago Steel. In addition, Rusty, the Chicago Steel mascot, will be returning to Grace McWayne on the next two Fridays to have fun with students during their lunch periods. The staff is excited to celebrate positive behavior these next two weeks leading up to Spring Break and we thank our partners at the Chicago Steel.

Fun Fair – Thank You!
The PTO would like to extend a huge thank you to Maura Rosengren and her entire team for organizing an amazing Fun Fair!! We were thrilled to be able to have Fun Fair back fully for the first time since 2020. It was wonderful to see so many happy faces enjoying games, friends, food and fun! This event is a huge undertaking, and it would not have been possible without the hard work of the chairs and all the other volunteers that helped in so many ways. Thank you to everyone who helped by either setting/cleaning up, donating a cake/soda, providing a donation to your classroom raffle basket or volunteering to run one of the games.

Did you miss the last GMS Spirit Wear sale in the fall? Do you need to restock or size up on favorite items? You’re in luck! Spirit wear is available for purchase again! CLICK HERE to order. GMS and Batavia t-shirts, sweatshirts and hats are available. Orders will be distributed by classroom teachers the week of April 17th. Deadline to order is Friday, March 17th.

Registration for 4th / 5th Grade Running Club
Are you a 4th or 5th grade student who loves to run or just be active? Then, the Grizzly Running Club is for you!
The Grizzly Running Club will be meeting before school Monday and Fridays, starting on March 17th. We will begin at 8:00 and go until 8:45. We will be meeting for 9 practices. Our culminating event will be the Batavia Mothers Club Fox Trot 5K that will be held downtown Batavia on the river path on Saturday April 22nd. This is an optional event and not required for joining. If interested please complete THIS FORM.

PE News: Thank You from Mrs. Gamlin
Thank you to all those who have been a part of the Kids Heart Challenge. I am truly amazed by how many families participated in the event as well as taking on the challenge to be Heart Heroes. We have 22 students who completed all 8 levels in Mike’s Mission. As a school we have collected $10,413.37 for the Heart Association and had 94 students participate in the collection of those donations. Thank you everyone! I know the family of Mike Park, former PE teacher at AGS, are thankful to all the families who support the AHA mission.
Grizzly Kids Club Bookmark Fundraiser
Help support Turkey and Syria! Grizzly Kids Club is selling bookmarks during each grade level lunch.
All proceeds will be donated to help the families who have lost their homes as a result of the earthquakes.
Bookmarks will be sold Tuesday, March 21st and Wednesday, March 22nd. Bookmarks are $2 each.

Chess Scholars Spring Registration
Chess Scholars (Chess Club) will be starting on March 14th. This is an outside vendor that would like to teach your child about how to play chess and give them time to practice their game. For more details CLICK HERE.
