Principal’s Message:
Our Chorus concert this week was amazing! The students took on some complex songs and absolutely nailed them! I was so proud watching them sing, dance and play instruments. Thanks Mrs. V for your help growing these singers so far this year. Impressive!
I hope these students along with all of Grace McWayne can also perform well on their Winter MAP tests next week. Most of our students will experience both a math and ELA assessment. You can expect the results of these tests sent directly to your email in about 2 weeks. These results will provide some initial growth data for all of our students which will help them set goals for the remainder of the year. If you have any questions about the MAP test, please reach out to your child’s teacher or me at 630-937-8110.
Enjoy the 3 day weekend and happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

Kindergarten Registration for 2023-2024
Do you have a student that will be turning 5 by September 1, 2023, that you are considering entering kindergarten at a BPS101 elementary school for the 2023-2024 school year? Join us for a Kindergarten Meet and Greet on February 16, 2023. Please sign up to meet with a District Administrator at the Rosalie Jones School Administration Building, 335 W. Wilson Street, to submit registration documentation and have a 10-minute time slot for a brief Q&A with your school administration team. Batavia Public School District 101 strongly encourages families of incoming kindergarten students to participate, which starts the enrollment process. SOPPA Update – Additional Programs Blocked Starting January 1st
Beginning on July 1, 2021, school districts were required by the Student Online Personal Protection Act (SOPPA) to provide additional guarantees that student data is protected when collected by educational technology companies, and that data is used for beneficial purposes only (105 ILCS 85).
Since then, the BPS101 tech team has audited nearly 750 products used within the district and attempted to establish privacy agreements with all the companies, websites, and databases that store student data. Many companies have complied and their products are in continued use within the district.
When companies do not work with us to meet the benchmarks of student data privacy that are required under SOPPA, we have had to stop using them. Most recently, access to EPIC and Xtra Math ended on January 1, 2023 due to unmet privacy agreements. Batavia Public Schools takes data security seriously. Our staff will continue to be mindful of the tools and products that they are using and our tech team continues to audit new products used by the students of BPS101.
