Principal’s Message:
We did tons of celebrating this week! We hosted two Principal-for-the-Day winners and both of them used their new position to schedule a spirit day for their school (Sports/Jersey Day is this Monday).
This was also our first Behavior Boost Week of the year. Students earned CLAWs throughout the week for making grizzly great choices and the PTO provided us with some fun prizes for the end-of-week raffle. Next week, we will announce our first set of Golden Grizzly winners. This is a monthly honor that is earned by students who consistently show good character or make big improvements to their behavior. At lunch today, students were trying to guess who might have earned this honor so far this year.
Students will also be experiencing a superhero themed assembly next week. This will continue our focus on good character and on developing a sense of belonging at school. The assembly is described as being patterned after the classic TV show, Double-Dare. This will be very exciting.
Finally, in September, our 5th graders created a new superhero: Resilient the Brilliant. Griffin DiGiacomo came up with the name, Ellie Gupana imagined what she looked like and drew her picture and Giuliana Colamatteo developed Resilient the Brillant’s origin story. A poster of Resilient the Brilliant is proudly hanging in our main hall. For the month of October, 4th grade students will be challenged with the task of developing a superhero that represents “Motivation.” I can’t wait to see what they create!

The PTO is looking for donations to get teachers through their extra long day of conferences next Thursday, October 9th. We will be adding to the district provided lunch as well as setting up a heavy round of evening snacks for those staying beyond school hours. We greatly appreciate your help in making this a special day for the GMS staff!
