Principal’s Message

Grace McWayne has kicked off the season of giving with an overwhelming response from students and families.  The Grizzly Kids Club sponsored a cereal drive this week which brought in 768 cereal boxes that will be donated to Batavia United Way.  Check out this video that shows the fun we had with all those boxes before we sent them on their way.

The Student Council sponsored a Penny War for 4th and 5th grade.  They raised a total of $1500 which will be used to fill stockings with gifts and care items.  These will also be donated to Batavia United Way.  First grade won the cereal drive contest and 5F won the Penny War contest.  I am so proud of our students, staff and families for showing up big time for their community. You are amazing!

The season of giving continues with Winter Wonderland tomorrow.  I look forward to seeing our students shopping for their loved ones and practicing once again the qualities of selflessness and generosity.

Have a very merry weekend!

PTO News:

Bake Sale

The Winter Wonderland Bake Sale is a great way to get a little treat and support the PTO. We are STILL in need of baked goods and volunteers to help run the sale. If you can contribute a dozen of some holiday treats, we would be so grateful! Cookies, brownies, bars, quick breads or muffins (like banana/pumpkin/zucchini bread), or other treats would all be appreciated! Store bought is just fine too! Bagged and ready for individual sale, would be great.

Please sign up HERE if you can bring something. Drop off in the vestibule tonight or bring tomorrow morning. Someone will be at the school by 8 am.

Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland is ALMOST here! Tomorrow, December 3rd, is the big day! We are so excited to help your little shoppers select gifts for their siblings, parents, grandparents, and pets! It is so fun to watch them carefully pick out the perfect gift and leave in eager anticipation of your reaction. This truly is a magical day and we can’t wait!

If you have not yet signed up your family for a time to shop, please sign up HERE. We still have plenty of slots for 11 am and 12 pm. We use the sign up process to make sure the day runs smoothly, not to overwhelm the elves, and help keep your wait time as short as possible, however, we do not want the time slots to prevent ANY family from coming, so please reach out if you need us to squeeze you into another time slot.

A few reminders:

  • Please print THIS form and bring it with your child, filled out, to Winter Wonderland. This shopping form will help the Elves be sure they pick age appropriate gifts for siblings, as well as stick to the budget that you determined.

  • Please put cash or check in an envelope LABELED with your child’s name on it, so we can return it to them if they drop it or set it down!

  • Vendors will be available in the gym for parents to shop while waiting for their child(ren).

  • Santa will be in the gym for pictures and holiday wishes from 9:30 am-1:00 pm, so wear your holiday shirts if you want! Santa will be available in a quieter classroom setting for those who would benefit from this experience from 8:45 -9:30 am.

Lastly, a huge THANK YOU to all of those who have helped prepare for this fun event! We couldn’t have done it without all the ornament decorators, the room parents coordinating class donations, those who shopped our “wish list” and donated items, the crafty helpers who added vinyl decals, local businesses who donated items and coupons, GMS teachers, and support staff! We appreciate you!

Backpack Mail

BPS101 often receives requests from community organizations to distribute informational fliers to students in their backpacks. In an effort to be environmentally conscientious, we use an electronic format to deliver this information, which we call “Backpack Mail.”
