Principal’s Message:
I learned a lot about community helpers today by visiting the GMS 1st Grade Wax Museum. Our 1st graders became wax figures this afternoon. Pushing a button on their back made them come to life so they could share really important information about how their job helps the community. Nice job 1st grade! You shared some very interesting facts!
They say that you can judge the importance of a message by who is in the audience. Thanks goes out to all the parents who came and visited our museum. Your presence affirmed the importance of the time and effort that went into this project. Thanks also to Superintendent Kim for stopping by. Of course, thanks especially to our kindergarteners for visiting the museum. They certainly got to witness what hard working 1st graders look and sound like at Grace Mcwayne.
Speaking of hard working students, by now you have had a chance to review your child’s NWEA MAP scores. If you have any questions about your child’s progress, please reach out to the classroom teacher. As a school team, we noticed some great progress in all grade levels, especially in mathematics. We are already working in grade level teams to set instructional and learning goals for the second part of the year.

Valentine’s Day – Non-Edible Treats Only
This is a friendly reminder that BPS101 does not allow the distribution of edible treats to students. If your child’s teacher plans for a valentine exchange among students and your family is choosing to share more than Valentine’s Day cards, please consider options such as pencils, erasers, small toys, etc. Your child’s teacher will provide more specific instructions closer to February 14th.
A Message from Mrs. Gamlin-
Roller Skating is back starting February 29th. Mrs. Gamlin will be teaching ALL classes (Kindergarten through 5th grade) how to roller skate in the gym and as they develop more as skaters I will teach them age appropriate skills they can do.

BPS101 Strategic Plan Parent Vision Session
The BPS101 Strategic Plan Parent Vision Session will be conducted on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 8:15 am. This session will be a 2 hour commitment at most. The location will be determined once we have a final count on how many parents/guardians will be attending. Please RSVP by February 28, 2024.
Batavia Special-Education Parents Network
Batavia Special-Education Parent Network’s (BSPN) Parent Resource Fair will be held on Thursday, February 22 from 6:00-7:30 PM at Batavia High School Cafeteria. It is a wonderful night with community resources for students from early childhood through age 22+, including recreational opportunities, therapy providers, educational consultants, transition planning and advocacy and support. Admission is Free. All families, friends, community members (not limited to Batavia) are invited to attend. Visit BSPN-Batavia.org for more information.

Deadlines to order: Paper forms DUE February 20th. Online orders DUE March 25th.

Winter Wonderland would LOVE your gently used and bargain gift bags and wrapping paper from the holidays. You can put them in the bin (under the table) in the entryway of the school. We will leave the bin until Valentine’s Day. Thanks so much!!!
